Resumen:
It is known that new information undergoes a progressive stabilization process termed consolidation which requires de novo mRNA transcription and protein synthesis, this process converts the initial fragile trace into an established long-term memory termed consolidation. Upon retrieval and under certain boundary conditions, such memory trace can re-enter a transient labile state which requires the onset of a stabilization process dependent upon new protein synthesis referred to as reconsolidation. We demonstrated that the reconsolidation process is blocked by the admisnitration of a benzodiazepine ligand such as Midazolam (MDZ). This inhibition is not due to a facilitated extinction and is time dependent, since no blocking MDZ effect is evident 2 h after recall-
