Resumen:
The transcription factors Fra-1, cFos and c-Jun are amphitropic, flexible and belong to the Intrinsically Unfolded Proteins (IUPs) group (1). They are Immediate Early (IE) oncoproteins involved in cell development and differentiation and interact with endoplasmic reticulum membrane both in vivo and in vitro (2). The three proteins form stable films in clean air-water interfaces, have similar surface behavior, but interact differently with phospholipids.  Fra-1 and c-Fos share a preference for acidic phospholipids (1).
We explored the transcription factors three-dimensional activities and possible bilayer remodeling effects that were anticipated by X Ray Small Angle (SAXS) studies of proteoliposomes in solution. To this purpose,  the effects of Fra-1 and c-Fos on membrane remodelling of DMPC and DPMC:PIP2 vesicles, were assessed with Resonance Energy Transfer (RET) assays using donor and acceptor NDB-DPPE and Rho-DPPE lipid probes
