Private Supplementary Tutoring is the most visible manifestation that a shadow education market exists; it permeates nowadays all levels of schooling worldwide including post-secondary education. It captures private educational activities that take place outside the formal education system of each country in order to address weaknesses displayed by students in relation to the skills and the attitudinal preparedness required for achieving progress in formal education institutions. The aim of this chapter is to contribute to the growing body of comparative studies on shadow education by exploring the present market characteristics of services developed in Argentina to treat academic deficits during the transition to Higher Education.
