Five South American medicinal species of Achyrocline, known as Marcelas, in order to identify and quantify the concentration of their "bioactive markers", the methanolic and aqueous extracts were standarizaded by HPLC. Chromatographic data were relevant to the characterization of each study drug and therefore useful in quality control of crude drug, raw materials, and extracts for pharmaceutical industry, dosage and administration of these widely used medicinal plants.
