Resumen:
The purpose of this paper to draw upon a recent development in interactive models to reading in second language teaching. We have made a critical analysis of studies conducted by researchers, such as Anderson, Eskey, Tierney & Pearson, in which they promote the idea that the teaching of reading in L2 should foster both types of processing skills, bottom-up and top-down, but it should attend specially to bottom-up skills since L2 learners lack the automaticity with which L1 learners decode language. From this analysis, some pedagogical applications arise, and these aim to put into practice effective ways to tackle reading comprehension in the classroom.
