In this paper, the main phonological errors at the segmental level by advanced Spanish-speaking students of English will be analysed. Hypotheses as to how and why these mispronunciations occur will thoroughly be accounted for within the theorical frameworks of Contrastive and Error Analysis. The pedagogical implications of the findings will also be referred to.
