Sustainability governance: economic, social and environmental upgrading in the Argentinian biodiesel value chain

This research project adopts a critical approach to traditional postulates of GVC theory, which rest on the assumption that participating in these chains is a sufficient driver for the upgrading of developing countries? actors. Instead, it proposes an assessment of sustainability certifications that encompasses the three-dimensional vision of sustainability and the stakeholders´ approach as sources of upgrading, acknowledging at the same time the existence of institutional and context limiting factors.
