Resumen:
This is the fourth handout of the series intended to be used in the English Language II course at the School of Languages, National University of Córdoba, Argentina. It focuses on the topics dealt with in the sixth unit of the current English Language II syllabus: Relationships. It includes ten learning sessions which contain a wide range of activities integrating the four macroskills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Specific vocabulary and grammar practice has been included in order to help students improve their linguistic skills in these areas. We have designed this handout based on a variety of up-to-date resources including audiovisual materials and authentic reading extracts. Some of the activities have been designed by the authors themselves and some others have been taken from widely used EFL textbooks. Under the premise of fostering communication in the classroom, every learning session is designed to promote communicative and collaborative language development as well as critical thinking and autonomy. We believe that autonomous learners are aware of their own learning process and are able to reflect on the strategies used when learning the target language. To this end, strategy instruction is included in every learning session. As language teachers, we truly hope our students can take advantage of this material as they become proficient users of the English language.
