In this edition of the handout, we have made some adjustments to improve the activities and guidelines included in the first published edition of this material. Based on our observation of English as a foreign language (EFL) students' oral performance at undergraduate level and on research findings in the area of foreign language speaking skills, we propose practical ways to empower university students to become more successful, reflective and autonomous EFL speakers. Many of the EFL university students we have been working with have explicitly manifested their need not only for specific guidelines and more speaking practice in class, but also for focused training on how to monitor their own performance so as to meet the demands of oral in-class reports and exams. Therefore, we hope that that this second edition attends to these needs.
