This article reviews the evolution of treatmets to surfaces of dental implants, their advantages and the differnt possible clinical applications. The surface topography and the physical and chemical changes applied to the implants in order to obtain specific tissue responses, have been the main topics of interest in many publications. In this review we intend to present the different criteria exposed in other research works and in-vivo and in-vitro studies about implant suface treatments.
