Resumen:
The paper applies both the Mincer wage equation and the Heckman procedure to account for selection bias to study if favourable selfselection applies to the internal migration áows in Argentina. The speciÖcation determines if migrants have unobserved characteristics - such as a higher labour market ability or motivation- that increase their earnings proÖle. By means of the May 2003 Encuesta Permanente de Hogares data, the paper Önds support for negative self-selection in the province of Buenos Aires, and some evidence of positive self-selection in the province of CÛrdoba and of negative self-selection in the province of Mendoza.
