The Southern Africa Innovation Support Programme is conducting a study on regional innovation players, collaboration and financing mechanisms in the SADC region. The study includes some international benchmarking and recommendations for SAIS future work around strengthening regional innovation cooperation. Regarding the current landscape the key areas to be studied and assessed are:(1) Existing supra-national policies and/or strategies for supporting innovation cooperation in the SADC region;(2)Regional innovation support frameworks and/or programmes already operational linked to the above; (3) Support or funding mechanisms and/or instruments that are being used to incentivise or facilitate regional innovation cooperation, targeted for public or private sector entities; and (4) Identifying strongest institutions or actors with clear mandates for planning or implementing any of the above.
