In the context of the greatest migration crisis to hit the planet since World War II ?the crisisin Europe known at a global level; the crisis in Latin America made invisible at the locallevel? and on the basis of Interpretation, Sociology and Intercultural Studies, we areinterested in sharing with you our experience as interpreters at the international event GlobalDialogues: migrants and refugees (2017), organized by the Government of the ArgentineRepublic and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), analyzing the role of theinterpreter as a modeling agent, their human dimension and their activism in mediating inthese conflicts and becoming involved in the values, feelings and meanings that should betransferred from one language/culture to another. Considering that refugees, migrants andagents who participated in this event represented geographical, political and social scenariosas diverse as Canada, United States of America, Colombia, Rwanda, Germany, Syria,Australia, among others, we will try to answer: What linguistic and emotional challenges areposed for the professional interpreter in preparing for such an event? What strategies can beused in booth performance to successfully deal with such difficulties?
