Resumen:
LDH are lamellar compounds whose structure can be described as brucite (Mg(OH)2)-like layers with isomorphic substitution of divalent by trivalent cations. Consequently, they present a structural positive charge that allows the intercalation and exchange of anions. The synthesis of nano-size LDHs (LDH-NPs) enables their use as drug nanocarriers for the site-specific administration of drugs and biomolecules. The ability to handle and control the surface properties of LDH-NPs is of great importance to modulate the particles size and their interaction with biological media1. The purpose of this work is the functionalization of LDH-NPs with risedronate (Ris) whose high affinity for hydroxyapatite provides them with osteotropicity.
