Resumen:
The field of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) has developed and evolved rapidly over recent years. It now includes a wide range of new technologies of communication and information (ICTs) applied to the field of language learning. ICTs have long been promoted as having potential to increase efficiency in the field of second language acquisition. CALL can help provide students with opportunities for learning grammar in many ways (Doughty, 1987). Research has increased our understanding of how students learn grammar. Hinkel and Fotos (20002) summarize some important ideas that demonstrate ways in which CALL can be used for teaching grammar, including discourse-based grammar, form-focused instruction and interaction. In concrete terms, we aim at explaining how learners can benefit from CALL and what teachers can do to encourage learners to use these new technologies. In our presentation, we will link rationale based on theory, research and experience with specific techniques intended to help learners develop their English grammar competence.
