This theory and practice handout was designed by the chair of Contrastive Grammar to be part of the compulsory bibliography of the subject. We provide students with parallel texts in both languages (English and Spanish) which belong to different genres and guide them through a series of contextualized activities for them to learn to compare and contrast different grammatical structures. In this way, they learn to carry out a complete contrastive analysis of the elements in focus and use the skills developed as a tool in translation.
