Resumen:
Heterogeneous catalysts are employed for the production of levoglucosan and furfuralfrom cellulose pyrolysis. The fraction of volatile compounds is studied. The studiedcatalysts are: Nb2O5 , CeO2 and Fe/ Nb2O5 , Fe/CeO2 . No influence of the catalysts on theinitial depolymerization is observed. On the contrary, the acidic nature and the redoxproperties of the catalysts greatly influence on quality of the products. Niobia disfavor theformation of levoglucosan and anhydro saccharides as a general trend. Besides itcatalyses the formation of acids. Iron supported on ceria catalysts also disfavortransglycosilation of glucose monomer, forming a large variety of oxygenated products.Ceria employment increases the fraction of volatile liquids, giving mainly anhydrosaccharides and furanes. The introduction of Fe to this oxide increases the production oflight produc
