This paper provides a succinct exposition of the long-run external solvency condition, and of the role of exports in solvency; discusses how to move from the formal expression to the empirical application and the peculiarities of the Argentine case; reports different empirical exercises to calculate the burden of the debt; the gap between actual exports and the exports required for solvency given the debt; and the gap between observed debt and admissible debt given actual exports
