Resumen:
Almost ten years have gone by since the Resolution 45/08 of Integral Sexual Education, which was born from the Law 26.150, was passed in our country. This resolution seeks to approach different topics related to sexuality as a cross curricular subject. Students now have the right to have access to this kind of education and we, as teachers, have the responsibility and the opportunity to organize our contents in a different way. Among other topics, the resolution points to the promotion of responsible attitudes, to prevention and to guarantee the development of gender equality. One of the main objectives is to help students to develop healthy and positive relationships. This is not the first experience; in the UK, a similar law prompts the inclusion of Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) from year 7 onwards. From the search to try to adopt these policies in our syllabus, we could detect that there are several recommendations as regards the application of the resolution in subjects such as Language, PE, Natural Sciences, but there is a lack of proposals for the English class. In this sense, this presentation proposes to examine the current legislations in Argentina regarding sexual education and to think its implementation in ESL teaching and learning. Taking as a major guide the Integral Sexual Education resolution (ESI, Res. 45/08) we attempt to analyze, in the first place, the requirements of the legislations, which impact directly in our classrooms, and the possibilities to develop the compulsory contents from the perspective that ESI promotes. In the second place, from our experience as secondary school teachers and teacher trainees, we have developed several proposals in this line that have been already experienced in the classroom and that we aim to share and multiply. This investigation has been framed in the numerous resources available online from the Ministry of Education. Finally, as the result of this process, we could come to the conclusion that from our contents it is possible to work with the ESI in the English class. In order to achieve this project, it is necessary to start developing conscious and informed decisions in our syllabus and plannings to include sexual education.
