Resumen:
Nowadays, in the postmodern era, foreign language teaching and learning is beinginfluenced by a new way of approaching the language. This new way, which focuses on language as a vehicle instead of as a learning object in itself, is called CLIL: Content and Language Integrated Learning, and favours the teaching of content which is taught in a second language, alongside the teaching of the second language which is taught only as the carrier of the content. One of our main roles as teachers of English as a foreign language is to help students to learn linguistic and cultural issues in order to communicate. Using Kumaravilevu?s theory as well as an approach based on CLIL, we shall concentrate on the area of Tourism and present a project carried out in a tertiary level school where Content and Language Integrated Learning played an important role when aiming at strengthening the students?cultural identity and language.
