A frequently observed phenomenon in English students? writing in the first courses at National University of Córdoba is the low degree of content evaluation and apparent lack of awareness of the importance of expressing a text producers? attitude towards what is being stated. Our aim is to throw light into the importance of bringing Systemic Linguistics into the text production classroom, highlighting the importance of providing students with the necessary tools in the art of making strategic choices from a wide range of potentialities within the sociocultural framework of the linguistic community the trainees intend to belong to.
