The focus for this descriptive analysis centers on the current trend of big US publishing houses to produce book-length comics in hardback format. This trend began in the late 1990s, and it continues today at an increasing rate. This increase has generated articles in the mainstream press and the creation of special comics/graphic novel sections in big chain bookstores like Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Borders Books and Music, and Books-A-Million.
