Resumen:

A hypothesis on the structure of analbumin-based gamma irradiated nanoparticle is presented. The proposedstructure was build based on methodologies such as, microscopy, D.L.S. andspectroscopy techniques. The BSA NP has a structure that can be compared tothat of an icosahedral viral capsid, with a molecular weight of 4.5 MDa.

Such nanoparticle can be decorated with folicacid before its gamma irradiation, preserving its interaction with hydrphobicdrugs, as well as its cyto ? toxic characteristics in MCF - 7 cell lines.

Both nanoparticles, decorated and not ?decorated, were tested for their cell immune toxicity in murine macrophages. The one with folic acid had less immune toxicity, whereas the naked albuminnanoparticle had a similar immune toxicity to albumin.

The gamma irradiated albumin ? basednanoparticle has an icosahedral ? like structure, with 250 albumin moleculesexposed to the surface. It is also possible to modify the nanoparticleenhancing its specificity or decreasing it immune toxicity.
