Resumen:
Small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) is a versatile technique applicable to the study of structural features of biomembrane vesicles and liposomes (as well as other non-lamellar phases) in isotropic suspension. More detailed information can be gained from anisotropic systems like Langmuir and Gibbs) monolayers at fluid/liquid interfaces [1-3], and planar multilayers on solid support [4]. This is because planar geometries allow for the splitting of the in-plane and out-of plane components of the scattering vector. The planar geometries also allow for further manipulations and simultaneous structural determinations under well defined thermodynamic conditions, like the isothermal lateral compression of monomolecular films in a Langmuir trough, as well as bulk compression (planar multilayers under osmotic stress). In this work, some examples of measurements with planar geometry are presented, and the possibility for their implementation at the LNLS is discussed. Referencias: 1. R. G. Oliveira, E. Schneck, B.E.
