Resumen:
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1cm; text-indent: 0cm;">An extended release tablet of 500 mg of ciprofloxacin (Cip), based on swellable drug polyelectrolite matrices (SDPM), was designed. A series of Carbomer (C) based complexes (C-Cip-Na), in which their composition was sistematically modified, was prepared. Such complexes are amorphous stable solid products in which Cip is ionically bonded to the functional groups of C. Rates of swelling of C-Cip-Na matrices as well as Cip delivery in simulated gastric fluid, were modulated by changes in the composition of the complexes. Such properties are particularly sensitive toward the proportion of Na incorporated. A direct correlation between fluid uptake and delivery rate was observed along the series of matrices in which the proportion of Na was sistematically changed. Complexes of the desired composition were satisfactorily prepared and processed to obtain extended rele
