Velocity distributions of Ba(1S0, 3DJ, 1D2, 3P1 and 1P1) and Ba+(2P3/2) produced by 1064 nm pulsed laser ablation of barium in vacuum
Resumen:
span lang="en" style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 12pt;">Various electronic states of Ba, from ground state up to 2.24 eV (1S0, 3DJ, 1D2, 3P1 and 1P1) together with Ba+(2P3/2), were produced by 1064 nm high-irradiance pulsed nanosecond laser ablation of Ba in vacuum. The velocity distribution for every species was obtained from time of flight measurements, using pulsed laser induced fluorescence or time-resolved optical emission spectroscopy, as appropriate. The distributions are bimodal, Maxwell-Boltzmann, functions, for 1S0, 3DJ and 1D2 and shifted Maxwell-Boltzmann for the rest of the states, with different peak velocities and average, hyperthermal translational temper
