In the present communication we report the chemical electron transfer (CET) reactions of substituted thiiranes (1) with ammonium cerium (IV) nitrate (CAN). The results are compaired with those obtained by photochemical electron transfer (PET) reactions  with Tetranitromethane (TNM) and Chloranil (CA) as electron acceptors (EAs).
