Resumen:
Currently, a main current technological challenge focuses on obtaining materials able to act as molecular sensors with specific and fast response, high sensitivity, portability, and low fabrication cost for monitoring global environmental. Among others, carbon-based composites play a key role in the development of new devices of interest in molecular sensing. In this work, two different carbon-based composites are presented: the first is constituted by a magnetic composite based on graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide with permalloy nanowires [1], while the second is sputtered carbon as coating of randomly distributed alumina nanochannels [2]. A comparative analysis between results obtained by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy for both carbon-based systems reveals that an enhanced electrical conductivity could be achieved when higher surface areas are reached by the presence of nanostructures. This result hints that the new carbonaceous materials composited with nanostructures could provide competitive alternatives for sensing applications.
