Resumen:
ntroduction: Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CP/CPPS) is an inflammatory condition that affects the prostate glandwithout evidence of infection in the urinary tract. Evidence reported duringlast decade supports a role for an autoimmune response to prostate antigensas a cause of this pathology. In fact, the presence of a specific cellularimmune response against prostate antigens was demonstrated inCP/CPPS patients, but little is known about the humoral immune response. Therefore, we decided to study the presence of serum specific antibodiesto prostate antigens, expressed in the human prostatic cell line DU-145, and other serum autoantibodies that are markers of different autoimmunediseases.Materials and Methods: 25 patients with CP/CPPS and 13 normalcontrols were studied and underwent the determination of serum antibodiesanti-DU-145 cells, Rheumatoid Factor, anti-Thyroperoxidase, anti-Th
