Resumen:

A style guide is becoming a common term in translation. Tranlsation agencies or even companies often have their own style guide, which they expect translators to follow. If it is not so, they will expect translators to follow one commercially available or to follow their on "style guide" created with their experience as a translator. It should be clear that these style guides refer to a recommended style not to literary style. It is, therefore, the purpose of this guide to provide students with a brief reference to some common translation problems often found in the process of translation of different commercial texts. It does not intend to become an all-inclusive list of all problems encountered but rather the stepping stone on the basis of which students can create their own style guide.
