Resumen:
The objective of this article is to identify the main determinants of emissive and receptive tourism in Argentina during 1997-2018. Individual equations for each tourist flow were estimated, and results indicate that the departure of tourists from the previous year, real exchange rate, Argentine population, cost of financing and income tax burden on individuals determined the evolution of emissive tourism over the period analyzed. In relation to receptive tourism, the explanatory variables were the number of tourists from the previous period, economic performance in the countries of origin, transportation cost, real exchange rate and a dummy variable for 2009. These conclusions are intended to provide evidence to conduct economic policies that boost tourism sector, which has direct impacts on the Argentine economy, in terms of foreign exchange inflows.
