Resumen:
ersinia enterocolica (Ye) is a human enteric pathogenthat causes significant clinical manifesta&ons mostlyacute gastroenteri&s. The aim of this study is to providedata to help to understand the epidemiology of Ye,therefore, we retrospec&vely analyzed 25 strainsisolated from pa&ents (24 children under 12 and 1adult 71 years old) treated in hospitals in CordobaArgen&na, between November 2008 and April 2013.Strains were analyzed phenotypically (anµbialsuscep&bility and biogrouping) and genotypically(virulence genes detec&on by PCR). Results: All isolatesbelonged to biogroup 4 with a homogeneousresistance profile to cephalothin and ampicillin. PCRanalysis showed a similar profile of key virulence genesto the Ye pathogenesis. Conclusion: These resultssuggest a close gene&c rela&onship between clinicalstrains of Ye isolated in Cordoba, this is an importantcontribu&on to the knowledge of the localepidemiology of this pathogen which remains poorlyunderstood so far.Key words: Yersinia enteroco
