Sensemaking in an internationalization Process in a University Level Organization

INTRODUCTION A constant challenge in organization studies is to connect the dynamic with the stable. Theoreticians, such as Giddens (1984) and Luhmann (1995), have worked from the idea that recursive relationships exist between process and structure, where the process is more dynamic and the structure, more stable. Luhmann´s recursiveness point of view considers the processes as communication flows, while visualizing the structure as communication codes belonging to a particular organization. Therefore, as process and structure are both communication-based, it is possible to study how both are involved in a mutual transformation. (Bakken and Hernes, 2006).
