Resumen:
n the presence of potassium hydroxide in water-Me2S0 mixtures, the title compound 2 gives the 1:1 σ complex by addition of hydroxide ion to the unsubstituted ring position; kinetic and equilibrium data are reported. A linear relationship between log kl, log k+ and log K1 and the molar fraction of Me2SO is found. In Me2SO-water (40%, v/v), the kinetic and equilibrium measurements suggest that the dianion arising from the ionization of the hydroxyl group of the adduct 3 is formed.
