Sodium p-aminosalycilate is an orphan drug used in patients affectedwith Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis. In this article, the preparation andcharacterization of a new alternative formulation of p-aminosalycilate isdescribed. It consists of a powder for extemporaneous reconstitution,p-aminosalycilate?extemporaneous, to be orally administrated in solution.It is finally packaged in a tightly closed, light-resistant glass container asa unitary dose. In order to promote accessibility to Multidrug-resistantTuberculosis treatment, the formulation is low cost and simple tomanufacture, being compounded by only four ingredients. To improvepatient compliance and treatment adherence, the unpleasant taste ofp-aminosalycilate was masked as p-aminosalycilate?extemporaneous iseasy to drink. The p-aminosalycilate?extemporaneous was characterized inrelation to its content uniformity, time of blending, powder bulk properties
