Resumen:
Given the significance of the intercultural dimension in professional and civic training, the aim of this paper is to open to reflection and debate about the importance not only of teaching cultural contents in the English teacher-training programme at University level but also of usingthat experience as a trigger to build a critical-reflective attitude. In turn, a critical-reflective attitude will help the students become agents in the building of their own cultural identity. At the same, the building and strengthening of their own cultural identity will enable them to discover, experience and accept cultural identities different from theirs.
