Resumen:
Disinfectants available on the market have limitations related to their action time and their efficacy against resistant strains of clinical pathogens. . The goal of this work was to develop a disinfectant formulation based on green synthesis with aqueous extracts of Minthostachys mollis H.B.K. This is an endemic species from the province of Córdoba (Argentina), with high efficacy against Gram (+) and Gram (-) pathogens with ability to generate silver nanoparticles in situ. The aqueous plant extract demonstrated its reducing capacity using the Folin-Ciocalteu method with tannic acid as standard. The optimal for the optimization of the synthesis were AgNO3 10 mM, bath temperature at 85°C, useful life time of the extract no more than 5 days and 4 minutes of reaction time. Absorption maxima were observed at 430 nm in the different synthesis of AgNP@Mm where aqueous extracts were used (pH= 6.58), which indicates the formation of the plasmon through UV-V spectroscopy and the spherical shape, the average size of 20 nm, and silver presence were determined through DLS and SEM - EDS. Remarkably, AgNP@Mm demonstrated complete antimicrobial inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 in environmental inoculum.
