Resumen:
The length of the transition from university to the labor market can have important consequences, not only for the graduate but also for the society as whole.
In the case of developing countries, such as Argentina, where it is not unusual that university students enter the labor market before they finish studying, the transition from university to the labor market needs to be addressed from other dimensions, which are define here as ?quality of job?.
The evidence for the graduates of economic sciences at the UNC shows that a good performance as student, having previous working experience related to the field of study, and a father with higher education increases the probability of finding a job in the short-run, with the time required to find a ?good job? increasing when ?quality? is defined in terms of skill matching and labor formality.
Finally, with many students already working before they graduate, the issue of left-censoring becomes relevant. In this regards, left-censored individuals show higher survival rates when a ?good job? is defined in terms of skill-matching and the job requiring a university degree, while lower survival rates emerge when a ?good job? is defined in terms of labor formality. Independently of the definition of a "good job", in most cases survival rates fall quite rapidly in the short run.
