Resumen:
Watson-Crick and Hoogsteen structures of the protonated Guanine-Cytosine pair were generated using an Electrospray Ionization Source from solutions at different pH. Consistent evidences from MS/MS fragmentation patterns, differential mobility spectra and gas phase IR spectra were observed, pointing towards the preferential formation of one or the other isomer depending on the pH. These fingerprint signatures are expected to be useful for the development of new analytical methologies.
