Resumen:
We now report results dealing with the direct photolysis of 2-iodothiophene (ITH)  in n-heptane at 252.7nm. All measurements have been carried out at room temperature and with solutions where the concentration of ITH was 8x10-5 - 1.6x10-4 M under nitrogen aatmosphere. Thiophene(TH) is formed as a major product suggesting a radical pathway. UV-visible spectroscopy was used to monitor time-dependent concentration changes during the photolysis of ITH. UV-visible spectroscopic measurements in combination with DRS or PLS multivariate calibration enabled us to resolve the overlapped spectra and concentration profiles of ITH and TH. The results suggest that pseudo-first order reaction is occurring and the rate constant may be obtained.
