e describe here the dehydrobromination of 1,2-dibromo-1,1 -diphenylethane in CCl4 solution with freshly reduced powdered iron with a 2 -7 micra particle diameter as catalyst. Reactions were carried out at several temperatures and monitored by 'H NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
