Fluorescent Microscopy: A tool to detect reactive oxygen species in Staphylococcus aureus induced by compounds with antimicrobial activity

Reactive oxygen species production was higher in S.aureus ATCC 29213 than in methicillin-resistant S.aureus with both methods to detect stress response. The differences in ROS generation between strains could be attribute to a higher antioxidant capacity in the resistant strain. Moreover, the generation of ROS could be associated to the mechanism of action of the studied compounds.
