2a-hydroxy-N-demethyl-sauroxine (1), another new Lycopodiumalkaloid from the Lycodane group, was isolated fromPhlegmariurus saururus (Lam.) B. Øllg. (Lycopodiaceae). Elucidationof the chemical structure and relative stereochemistry were statedby spectroscopic data and chemical correlation. In addition, theinhibitory activity on acetylcholinesterase for 1 was determined aswell as for N-methyllycodine (2), a derivative with the samenucleus, previously identified in P. saururus (IC50 ¼ 33.8 ± 0.8 lMand 547.5 ± 0.5 lM, respectively) and N-demethylsauroxine (3)whose inhibition in the actual conditions was better than the previously informed.
