We found a statistically significant
difference when we studied allele frequencies (AF) between polysensitized ACD
patients (positive patch test to at least one para-substituted aryl compound
and other nonrelated antigen) and normal individuals in TGFb1 (codon 25) polymorphism (AF p=0.009).
In regards to Pemphigus patients, we found only for IL-10 (-819) significant
differences between them and normal individuals (AF, p=0.021). Moreover, we
found smaller p value when we only consider Pemphigus Vulgaris in the analysis
(AF p=0.013). No significantly different distributions of AF and genomic
frequencies were detected at any other polymorphic positions of cytokine
polymorphism among individuals studied.
CONCLUSIONS:
The difference found in TGFb1 (codon 25) between patients with ACD
and normal individuals is related to a significantly reduced frequency of the
high producer phenotype for TGFb1 (codon 25). Because IL-10 (-819) polymorphism is
associated with differences in the level of cytokine production only when it is
combined with IL-10 (-1082) polymorphism and we do not find differences when we
analyzed it, it is not clear which is the implication for the differences found
between Pemphigus patients and normal individuals.
