This paper is concerned with perovskite stability and electrocatalytic activity, and the possible relationships of the latter with the bulk solid state properties. Perovskite oxides have not been found, in general, to be very active for oxygen reduction, although substantial catalytic activity for hydrogen peroxide decomposition has been found. Instability of some perovkites has been observed over particular potential ranges. In some cases these ranges overlap those in which O2 reduction occurs. A series of compounds of the type La
