!--[if gte mso 9]> This contribution discusses the intercalation of imidazoleand its 2-ethyl derivative, and pyridine in 2D copper nitroprusside. In the interlayerregion, neighboring molecules remain interacting through their dipole and quadrupolemoments, which supports the solid 3D crystal structure. The crystal structure ofthis series of intercalation compounds was solved and refined from powder X-raydiffraction patterns complemented with spectroscopic information. The intermolecular interactions were studied from the refined crystal structures and low temperature magnetic measurements.
