Resumen:
The main claim of this paper is that appropriate input in the form of authentic texts and focused reading should provide the foundations for good writing. The discussion centers on some pedagogical strategies meant to raise students' awareness about language resources such as verb tenses and attitudinal lexis often used in various types of texts. The strategies include the selection and grouping of texts according to genres, guided reading, individual and group work (in and out-of-class), and follow-up writing activities.
