Resumen:
his work aimed to design and characterize cross-linked hyaluronic acid?itaconic acid films loaded with acetazolamide?hydroxypropyl beta cyclodextrin?triethanolamine inclusion complexes (ACZ:HPβCD:TEA) for topical ocular applications.Hyaluronic acid films were chemically cross-linked with itaconic acid and poly(ethylene glycol) diglycidyl ether. The film was successfully loaded with the ACZ:HPβCD:TEA inclusion complex, which contributed to the incorporation of ACZ into the film. Physicochemical characterization was implemented by swelling, stress?strain, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, X-ray, X-ray fluorescence, and scanning electron microscopy studies. Finally, biopharmaceutical properties of the proposed systems were assessed by evaluating in vitro drug release rate and in vitro biocompatibility in a human corneal epithelial cell line. Sustained release of loaded ACZ molecules was observed up to 250 min after initial burst drug release.Experimental findings showed
