Resumen:
he review deals with the analysis of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical properties of aqueous dispersions of acid or basic polyelectrolytes (PE) loaded with ionizable drugs (F) of opposite charge. Such dispersions are characterized by the high degree of PE-F counterionic condensation. This property lets to increase the aqueous compatibility as well as the chemical stability of loaded F. The reversibility of PE-F association modulates drug release when dispersions are in contact with simulated biological fluids. The increase o F absorption through biological membranes observed with some model systems is associated to the bioadhesivity properties of the carrier PE.
