This review of materials widely used in Argentina and in some of the Southern Cone nations (Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Brazil) has been organized according to the educational settings where they are implemented. Because of our professional background we have chosen to focus on primarz and secondarz schools (more specifically addressing the situation in Argentina) and the initial courses for teenage students taught at language shools. The coursebooks under analysis in this chapter include examples of international, localized and local coursebooks.
